The Giles Road
This really is an understatement. I would have given my right arm to see if a caravan could of made it through. We managed to make it, however.

The Giles Road
Good in places and not so good in others, the road was quite an adventure. Especially after there was some rainfall!

The Giles Road
The side of the road was littered with, what looked like, very small watermelons.

Unsually wet day at Ayer’s Rock!

RIMG0463

Ayer’s Rock
Although it is a rather impressive looking lump of rock, I was a little unimpressed with the $50 dollar per person charge to gain entry to the park. In fact we never left the car because it was pissing it down.

Ayer’s Rock
Yes, I took photos here! Political-correctness gone way too far. The guide book which was issued out to us on entry said absolutely nothing about the geology or origins of the rock itself. It all seemed to be about the story of the Aboriginal people and their spirituality of the rock. Apparently, they encourage tourists not to take photographs of the rock from certain angles as it may upset the Aboriginals. Question is, who took the photographs of the rock in the tourist shop?

Taking a lunch break before our long drive back to Alice Springs.

Curtin Springs
The ‘all-in-one’ facilities at Curtin Springs. Good pumpkin soup and hamburgers here. Apart from the beetroot in the burgers that is!
